The latest addition to the Amsterdam gay scene is called BUMP: sexy, fun and free of attitude. This new, clubby bar on the Kerkstraat was opened at the beginning of April 2011 by the team behind bar PRIK.

BUMP is the new hotspot for the Amsterdam gay scene, where everyone will feel welcome: it’s sexy, fun and not too serious. Sip a cocktail, hit the dance floor, order yummy bites or lounge on one of the comfortable sofas. Daily deejays spin deep grooves, nu-disco and funky electro. The small stage will host live acts regularly.

BUMP is a large bar on two floors. In the middle of the room, a black bar and a pink staircase catch the eye. The ground floor of BUMP is a clubby bar with deejays spinning every day and a stage with a varied program of live music and performances. The upstairs floor with its golden bar is a bit more intimate. There’s also a playroom with table football.

BUMP is housed in a historic building on an important location for the gay community: between 1976 and the early nineties the old coach house used to be the home of gay discotheque Homolulu. After World War II, Kerkstraat developed into a centre of the gay community, being ideally located between Leidseplein and Singel, where the first gay establishments sprang up.

Bump hosts the only T-dance party of Amsterdam, every Sunday from 17:00 hour. The Bump resident DJ team consists of known as well as upcoming Amsterdam DJ's: DJ Leo Moreno, DJ Moog, DJ Bijker, DJ Devotion, DJ Dulac, DJ Dutchican Soul, DJ Yuki, DJ Jakk and DJ Jelmer.

BUMP is an initiative of the men behind bar PRIK.

@ scamp. Here at Bump we aim to apply the same high level of customer service as you refer to that you recieve at Prik. An incident that you describe is not tolerated here and would be a disciplinary action to any bartender that would think it acceptable. Our bumpies were selected over a 4 hour interview process and went through 1 month of training before stepping behind the bar. This is the first time we have heard of such a situation here at Bump, most customers are very postive about the staff and the level of service they recieve. I can only assume that there must be some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. If however that is not the case please reassurred that the person you assume took a tip without asking would not be working here in the future. I would ask that in future you bring it to the attention to the manager in charge at the time when the incident occurred and we could resolve it there and then. I hope that your next visit to Bump restores your faith in what we are trying to achieve here and what we are tyring to add back to the gayscene in Amsterdam.

I had my first look at this new bar last saturday June 25th, 2011. Nice bar, crowd and music. It all got rather spoiled after getting drinks at the bar and finding out that the barman apparently thougth he can decide himself to get a tip or not. FYI, when ordering I decide if I pay a tip or not. And for a tip of two euro for 3 drinks the service should be rather excellent. Which was definitely not the case in this bar with the cranky barman. Pity, because Prik (same management) used to be famous for their friendly staff.

plenty of gay parties in Amsterdam, who needs gay clubs if all the great regular clubs have gay parties too?

Guy's hope for you it will work Amsterdam gays are sick like the say the gras is greener outsite than at home And home is on the moment a littele late with starting some new things
